It's like being given a Ferrari that's limited to 50mph. But to repeat not having proper multiplayer again is so disappointing and infuriating at the same time. It's so addictive and so potentially great. I so want to hate it for this, but I just can't stop playing it. Console players won't have nearly the same issues due to matchmaking systems that have always worked in this way. In terms of making a PC update, it's lazier still: it's a straight console port. Update? It's MW2 copied with tracing paper (this isn't necessarily a bad thing). It made the laziest update to a game ever. Whereas BF3 gave the PC a breath of fresh air, Activision has essentially listened to its loyal customers, raised a middle finger and told them to, '**** off!'Īll MW3 had to do was to be a re-launch of MW2 with proper dedicated servers and it would be one of the greatest games of all time. It's difficult to express how contemptible that decision is - after all the rage from MW2.
I am of course talking about the PC version here. right up until the horrendous matchmaking system started up. But then I booted up MW3 and it was like being back in the great-but-flawed old MW2 days again.
But then the brilliance of Battlefield 3 tempered those feelings. If you were anything like me then you were counting the minutes until Modern Warfare 3 appeared.
